Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young may have missed their Christmas Day game against the New York Knicks, but he promised he and the team will be back on the same stage.
Young was ruled out of the contest as he remains in the COVID-19 health and safety protocols. He entered protocols December 19, and unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to get him back for the holiday showcase.
On Twitter, Ice Trae expressed his regret that he is unable to join his team in their fight. However, he proclaimed that it won't be the last fans would see them in the Christmas Day slate of the NBA as he has no plans of leaving it any time soon.
As a kid you Dream of playing on Christmas Day in the NBA.. wish I could’ve been out there with my squad today.. but I told you ATL we were gonna be back on this stage last year & I don’t plan on leaving it again anytime soon🙏🏽 !!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Enjoy the Great 🏀!

It would have certainly been great if Young was available to play. After all, the Hawks' showdown with the Knicks was highly anticipated because the sharpshooter made himself an enemy of the Big Apple during the 2021 playoffs. That is why even though he wasn't there, ‘Bocker fans delivered the “F**k Trae Young” chants.
The Knicks ultimately took down the shorthanded Hawks, who are missing nine players due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. John Collins and Delon Wright both scored 20 each, but outside of the two, Atlanta had not much offensive production.
Hopefully, though, Young and the Hawks will be selected for the Christmas games in 2022 and the 23-yera-old gets his revenge.
