The Atlanta Hawks were the cinderella team of the last NBA playoffs, going from 5th seed afterthought to just two wins away from making the NBA Finals.

But even as the clock struck midnight on their magical run, their young players have still been rewarded with glass slippers in the form of multi-million dollar contracts It started with their two brightest stars in Trae Young and John Collins, who signed massive nine-figure deals early on in the offseason.

Now just before the season begins, Atlanta also locked up their standout shooting guard in Kevin Huerter to a four-year, $65 million contract.

Safe to say Trae Young was hyped that his Hawks teammate and fellow 2018 NBA draft classmate was able to secure the bag just like he was.

Huerter has been a solid contributor for the Hawks in his first three seasons in Atlanta. He carried his steady hand over even as they went from bottom-feeder to playoff team.

ā€œIt was important to our group to secure Kevin as a part of our team moving forward,ā€ said Hawks president and general manager Travis Schlenk said in a statement. ā€œHe's developed into a versatile, two-way player who can fit any lineup and can play minutes all over the perimeter. We are excited his future is in Atlanta.ā€

The Atlanta Hawks are banking on their home-grown talent to carry them to the promised land. As the ink dries on the contracts, the attention shifts back to making sure they made the right decisions on the basketball court.
