The fans were treated to a much-needed reunion with the NBA — sort of — with the league airing the matchup between Atlanta Hawks rising star Trae Young and former NBA champ Chauncey Billups in the NBA HORSE Challenge on Sunday night.

Somehow, Billups was able to score the unlikely come-from-behind victory against his much younger opponent. The Hawks point guard took to Twitter to air his feelings about his defeat:

As expected, Young had nothing but respect for Billups, who he acknowledges to be a legend of the sport. The 43-year-old finished his career as a five-time All-Star, three-time All-NBA member, and two-time All-Defensive team member. Billups also won Finals MVP honors during the Detroit Pistons' historic Finals upset victory against a powerhouse Los Angeles Lakers side in 2004.

Being the competitor that he is, however, the Hawks youngster made sure to remind Billups that he wants a rematch in the near future. Billups quickly responded to the challenge, saying that it would be his pleasure to get back on the basketball court to face Young again:

Billups obviously also has a lot of love for Young, who has already achieved so much in the league. Young was a highly touted prospect coming into the NBA, but perhaps not many expected him to be this good this soon.

Following a memorable rookie campaign, bettered only by reigning Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, Young took it to another level in his sophomore year. Prior to the lockdown, Young was averaging 29.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 9.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 3.4 3-pointers per game on a 36.1 percent clip. There's no doubt that the Hawks star deserved every single bit of his very first All-Star call in February.

While the Hawks struggled as a team before the shutdown, Young promises a bright future in Atlanta.
