Vince Carter is rejoining the Atlanta Hawks as a new member of the broadcast booth.

Carter, who played his final two seasons in Atlanta, will be on the headset alongside play-by-play man Bob Rathbun and Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins.

The eight-time All-Star said he feels he can lend added perspective, having played under current Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce:

“I’m familiar with what (Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce) is thinking, what he’s thinking about, how he sees things, how he views things, and a lot of the players, I’ve been around them, played with a lot of the players. … It’s easy to talk about the game, don’t get me wrong, but I really know these guys and can have personal stories,” Carter said, via Sarah K. Spencer of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “And can give better analysis on a player in real situations or game-time situations.”

Carter will be on the call this Wednesday as the Hawks take on the Brooklyn Nets. He will also join the booth for Atlanta's Martin Luther King Jr. Day matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves before calling marquee showdowns against the Milwaukee Bucks (Jan. 24), Los Angeles Lakers (Feb. 1) and Dallas Mavericks (Feb. 3).

“Vinsanity” has spoken previously about the joy he took in being a mentor for the Hawks' young guys and playing out the final years of his career in Atlanta. It should be interesting to have his added perspective in the broadcast booth.

The Hawks will try to improve to a perfect 3-0 as they get set to take on the Detroit Pistons on Monday night.
