With the trade deadline fast approaching, the name of John Collins has emerged as one of the most sought-after targets on the trade market. A move away from the Atlanta Hawks seems to be imminent for the 23-year-old, but at this point, the Hawks are reportedly asking for a king's ransom.

According to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, Atlanta has slapped a hefty price tag on Collins:

League sources say Atlanta is receiving significant trade interest for John Collins from the Celtics, Kings, Mavericks, Pistons, and Timberwolves. The Hawks want one young player and a first-round draft pick to make a deal, or a package of similar value such as multiple first-round picks. For example, league sources say Atlanta wanted Malik Beasley and a first from Minnesota, but the Wolves declined.

Over the past few years, Collins has established himself as a real threat down low for the Hawks on both ends of the floor. However, at this point, he appears to be surplus to requirements in Atlanta. It is a poorly kept secret that the Hawks have placed Collins on the trading block, and as it is, there are quite a few teams that have shown their interest.

Then again, the Hawks' asking price for Collins does appear to be rather dissuasive for potential suitors. At 23, Collins still has a lot of basketball ahead of him, and you could easily argue that he has yet to reach his peak. However, whether or not the market meets the Hawks' demands remains to be seen. It also wouldn't be surprising if Atlanta brings down their price as the deadline nears.
