The Atlanta Hawks have been shopping power forward John Collins for quite some time now. Going as far back as the NBA trade deadline, Atlanta has let it be known that they would be willing to move the talented forward. Rumors have been swirling ever since. It has since been reported that the Sacramento Kings have approached Atlanta. However, their reported offer appears to be something that should be scoffed at.

As noted by The Athletic, the Kings offer has been perceived as underwhelming. They reportedly were offering a deal including veteran Harrison Barnes for Collins. However, they were not planning on including the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Were they willing to include that pick, the deal likely would already be done.

Apparently, the consensus is that the Kings were the front runners for the Hawks star big man. But they are not very close if the package only surrounds Barnes.

The Kings hold arguably the most important draft pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft. The top three picks appear locked with Jabari Smith Jr., Chet Holmgren and Paolo Banchero in some order. But Sacramento with the fourth pick is where the draft will really get exciting.

Jaden Ivey was once considered the favorite to land in Sacramento. But he has been outspoken about his unwillingness to land there. Both Bennedict Mathurin and Keegan Murray are other options. But it's very possible the Kings trade that pick. The Hawks likely would require it if they were to deal Collins there.

Recently, the San Antonio Spurs have reportedly been in discussions with Atlanta for Collins also. A blockbuster swap of players with Collins and Dejounte Murray was involved, but the Spurs needed at least three first-round picks to make that happen. That likely was not something Atlanta was willing to part with.
