The Atlanta Hawks gave the streaking Cleveland Cavaliers a good fight on Thursday night. While they just fell short and lost, 121-114, at least the Hawks’ home crowd got an entertaining game instead of the 34-point blowout they witnessed previously against the Toronto Raptors.
However, the actual game wasn’t the only piece of entertainment that night. There was also a nice little skit that went down during one of the kiss cam segments.
A couple was being shown on the kiss cam, so the woman who was drinking a beer passed it off momentarily to her seatmate in order to kiss her man. But as the couple kissed, the man holding her beer took the opportunity to take a nice chug off it, to the dismay of the woman’s beau.
Obviously, the whole kiss cam incident was a scripted bit, which was pretty evident in the “boyfriend’s” exaggerated acting job. If it were real, then the fan who chugged the beer would've gotten a punishment much more severe than a handful of popcorn thrown at him. The bit was fairly effective, though, as the people in the section seemed to like it.
The Hawks, who fell to 4-17 with the loss to the Cavs, don’t have much to cheer for these days, so these pre-planned bits will have to play a big part in amusing the Atlanta crowd on most home games.
