Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo was one of the favorites to win the 2020 Most Improved Player of the Year Award, but he wound up losing to New Orleans Pelicans small forward Brandon Ingram.

However, Adebayo really doesn't care since he's more focused on team success. The Heat star spoke to reporters on Friday about Miami not winning any of the annual awards this season.

“We try to brush it off,” Bam Adebayo said after Friday’s practice at Disney World, via Ira Winderman of the Miami Sun-Sentinal.

“At the end of the day, the end goal is, ‘Well, we all won,’ and we want that trophy. So at the end of the day, we get a trophy. I don’t care about MIP, if we win. It’s good accolade to have. But at the end of the day, we win a championship, I got me a ring.”

Adebayo and the Heat are in the conference finals after upsetting the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in the second round in five quick games. Miami will face the winner of the Boston Celtics-Toronto Raptors series, which will conclude on Friday.

During the 2019-20 regular season, Adebayo put up 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. He made a huge jump from the 2018-19 campaign. Bam averaged 8.9 points, 7.3 boards and 2.2 dimes as Hassan Whiteside's backup.

Everyone inside the Heat organization knew the athletic specimen was going to make a leap after Whiteside was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.

With Adebayo and All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler leading the way, the Heat have a shot to get to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014.
