With the NBA's 2019-20 regular season tipping off tonight, the NBA on TNT crew gave their predictions on the year, with Hall of Fame power forward Charles Barkley forecasting a Rookie of the Year award for Miami Heat shooting guard Tyler Herro.

The Heat selected the Kentucky Wildcat with the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft last June. Herro has big shoes to fill, arriving in Miami in the wake of future Hall of Fame swingman Dwyane Wade's farewell retirement tour last season. Wade, a three-time NBA champion for the Heat, hung up his sneakers after the 2018-19 season, clearing the way for Miami to search for youth at shooting guard, signifying the Herro selection.

Additionally, the 19-year-old Wisconsin native had a very good preseason to his rookie season, averaging 14.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 26.4 minutes per game, appearing in five contests for the South Beach franchise.

Barkley, an 11-time All-Star and one-time league MVP, made a bold prediction by picking Herro to win the prestigious award, which was won by Slovenian native and last year's third overall pick Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks this past season. Barkley himself did not with the coveted Rookie of the Year honors; instead that award went to Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bulls legendary shooting guard who was picked two spots before Auburn product Barkley in the great 1984 draft. Barkley did, however, make the All-Rookie first-team alongside Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Sam Perkins, and Sam Bowie that season.

This season could see a repeat of greatness if Barkley is predicting Herro going home with Rookie of the Year considering top prospects turned NBA players in Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, and Coby White, to name a few.
