In his jersey retirement ceremony, Miami Heat icon Chris Bosh brought along some jokes for former teammate and good friend Dwayne Wade.

Bosh shared a story involving him and Heat team president Pat Riley. Bosh recalled that he met Riley way back when he was 19-years-old. Later on, in the 2003 NBA Draft, Bosh was selected fourth overall by the Toronto Raptors. And according to him, Riley and the Heat had to “settle for this kid D-Wade.”

Bosh ended the story by apologizing for beating Wade to the jersey retirement ceremony — simply because he had to beat Wade at something.

Indeed, Chris Bosh and his ties with the Heat run deep. In his six seasons with the basketball club, he was a key part of the team's four straight NBA Finals appearances. Along the way, they snagged two championship rings and were heralded as one of the best teams ever assembled in history.

It was a short run. Many believe that if LeBron James would've stayed, then they could've won at least one more. And even with Bosh and Wade, the Heat still had the capacity to make waves. Imagine what would've happened if Bosh didn't have blood clots which put his career to a grinding halt?

It's a nice thought to play with. But given his relatively short stint in the NBA, Chris Bosh maximized his abilities. And that's all that matters in the end.
