Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside put up an impressive number of blocks in the first half of their game against the San Antonio Spurs, tallying eight.
Hassan Whiteside had a very impressive night overall against the Spurs. He finished with 29 points, 20 rebounds, nine blocks, and two assists. He also shot 55.6 percent from the field.
He hasn't played well lately, so this will bring him a ton of confidence into his next game. This is something you do not see every day in the NBA. He almost had a triple-double in points, rebounds, and blocks.
With an impressive outing like this, this could also help his trade value if the Heat decide to trade him around the deadline, or even perhaps for Jimmy Butler.
When players have these types of games, they are always impressive no matter who they play against. Having eight blocks in a half is pretty impressive enough.
With the nine blocks Hassan Whiteside posted against the Spurs Wednesday night, he is now averaging close to three blocks per game this season.
In fact, he is averaging 14.6 rebounds, 12.4 points and 2.8 blocks per game. He is shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 20 percent from three.
If he keeps putting up monster defensive numbers, especially on the defensive end of the floor, you could possibly make a case for the Heat big man being in the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year.
