Jimmy Butler set the record straight during his first full-fledged press conference as a member of the Miami Heat, clearing up the misconception and the stigma attached to his name.

“I'm not an ass***e like everybody thinks that I am,” said Butler, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Butler has had his share of tiffs in each of his last three teams, taking a somewhat rocky exit out of the Chicago Bulls and repeating it only a year after with the Minnesota Timberwolves as he forced his way out of town early on his second season with the team.

His arrival with the Philadelphia 76ers didn't come without a share of arguments about how the offense should be run and what coach Brett Brown must do to get the most out of him. While Brown claimed this was only constructive banter, many had seen this movie play out again with other coaches — enough to assess him as a sometimes disruptive star player.

Butler's intensity however, fits the Miami Heat to a tee, as the organization is incredibly demanding of fitness, performance, and most importantly commitment to the cause — assets that the 6-foot-7 small forward has in spades.

If there is a time for Jimmy Butler to clear up his personality and create a different image for himself, it is by spearheading this franchise in the right direction and being the voice of reason instead of the one often found stirring the pot.
