Being a world-famous, multi-millionaire NBA star is definitely a dream for most players. But Miami Heat frontman Jimmy Butler will be the first to tell you it isn't all good.
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, the Heat star revealed one of the most frustrating aspects about being a famous athlete is the utter lack of privacy.
“I think one of the hardest things about being a celebrity is that you can’t go be a parent from time to time,” admits the Heat forward. “I hate that I can’t take my daughter to the zoo because everyone wants to talk basketball or take a photo. To my daughter, I’m just her dad, she doesn’t know any different.”
“I hate that I can’t take her to the park because there are kids who are out playing basketball and [they say], ‘Hey, let’s go play.' I love you kids, but I literally just want to be a dad right now. A lot of times I just try to do a lot of things with her around the house, or I’ll get on my bike and put her on the back of it, stuff like that, where it can just be us.”
Butler just wants to be a good dad. While it's obviously not the biggest problem in the world that he's constantly mobbed by fans, it certainly does hinder being able to spend quality time with his daughter.
That's probably not a problem that's going to go away anytime soon, though. This especially if Jimmy Butler can bring the Miami Heat back to the NBA Finals like he fully intends to. But if any of you see Jimmy Buckets out in public with his daughter, try to keep your distance.
