Saturday night will feature a rematch of last season's Finals as the Los Angeles Lakers host the Miami Heat in the STAPLES Center. For Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, the contest presents itself as an opportunity to look back on LeBron James' glory days in Miami.

Spoelstra spoke highly of LeBron, particularly about the four-time NBA champ's unbridled basketball IQ. The 50-year-old coach had one particular LeBron story that summed up how much of a basketball genius he truly is:

“In the Finals, he was making adjustments to our adjustments to the adjustments,” explained Spoelstra, via Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “And not making an adjustment to the adjustment I thought about making an adjustment, but I bluffed the adjustment, and he knew I was making a bluff.”

Quite complicated, right? Don't worry if you didn't quite catch the drift. We tried, but we ended up giving up anyway. I don't even think coach Spo himself completely understands what he was saying here.

True enough, Spoelstra eventually came to the realization that he had become very confused with all the adjustments:

“By the end of the series, I had no idea what the adjustments were,” he concluded.

It is unclear which Finals series Spoelstra was talking about here, but we're pretty confident it resulted in a championship for Miami.

Erik Spoelstra, who himself has quite a crazy career narrative, knows LeBron James well, and he has a keen understanding of how The King's mind works. The Heat coach is hoping that his knowledge is something he can use to his team's advantage on Saturday night.
