The NBA is dealing with massive COVID-19 issues right now, and the Miami Heat are in the middle of it. The Heat's Sunday game against the Boston Celtics was postponed because they didn't have enough players eligible due to contact tracing, and they're preparing to be without at least five players over the coming days, per Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.

Avery Bradley is one player who's set to miss time, but it's unclear who else may be out and for how long.

As it stands under the current COVID-19 protocols, the Heat would still be required to play as long as they have eight active players. There has been a great deal of controversy in the league regarding this rule and the health and safety protocols in general. With two more games already getting postponed this week, the NBA plans to look into the situation more. Adam Silver and the Board of Governors are set to meet Tuesday in order to lay out all the possibilities, with some wondering if there will be a pause in the season.

The NBA and NBPA decided to eschew another bubble scenario for the 2020-21 season. As the season has commenced, that plan is starting to take an NFL-like turn with the number of cases popping up now and all the contact tracing that's being done alongside the positives.

The Heat are 4-4 at the start of the season. While it's only eight games in, teams such as the Heat have been a surprise with their lackluster start. Some of that can be attributed to the short turnaround between last season and the current one, plus the generally weird circumstances. Miami is hoping to just get through these issues before ultimately finding a groove as this unique campaign moves forward, assuming it actually does continue
