The wave of coronavirus issues plaguing the NBA continues to have a drastic impact on the 2020-21 schedule.

The NBA announced postponements of two more games, with Monday's game between the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans and Tuesday's game between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls officially postponed. The Mavs and Celtics are both short the necessary eight eligible players to compete, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Mavs shut down their facility on Sunday due to their COVID-19 issues. Kristaps Porzingis was set to make his season debut on Monday, but now that will have to wait.

The Celtics had their Sunday game against the Miami Heat postponed because of COVID-19 issues. With these latest two postponements, four games this season have been postponed thus far.

The NBA is set to meet with the NBPA in order to assess the current protocols. All 30 general managers will also discuss the mandates with league officials, and a Board of Governors meeting is set for Tuesday:

Needless to say, the virus is having a large impact early in the year, as league officials feared it might. Now, the NBA could face a potential reckoning in terms of making sweeping changes to the protocols.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had previously warned teams to stay vigilant with COVID-19 cases expected to surge in January. But teams have also been depleted due to contact tracing, as much so if not more than the revelation of positive tests.

The NBA will have discussions with all parties Monday in an effort to combat these issues. Silver is hoping to avoid pausing the season, but the situation continues to get more complicated.
