John Cena and Jackie Chan will soon team up for a new action movie, Hidden Strike. The first trailer debuted yesterday and we'll catch you up on everything you need to know about the new movie.

Release date

An official release date of Hidden Strike has not been revealed, but you can expect it to be released sometime in 2023. XYZ Films will distribute the film.

Who's in it?

John Cena is coming off a return to the Fast & Furious franchise in Fast X. He'll also appear in Barbie later this summer and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. His 2021 Hulu comedy Vacation Friends will be getting a sequel on the streaming platform later this year as well.

Jackie Chan also stars in the film and is an icon of the action movie genre. We're decades into his career and Chan is still churning out films — he will also lend his voice to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem with Cena. Additionally, he'll star in a fourth Rush Hour film — the franchise he starred in with Chris Tucker.

Pilou Asbæk, Zhenwei Wang, Max Huang, and Amadeus Serafini also star in the Scott Waugh-directed feature.

First trailer

The Hidden Strike trailer begins with Cena and Chan bantering — the former struggles to put his seatbelt on. Chan's character sets the stakes bluntly: They're attempting to stop the “biggest oil heist in history.”

We then get glimpses of Cena's comedic chops as he hands out nicknames to his team (including “Tomb Raider” and “Bald Eagle”). Vignettes of high-octane action sequences that you expect from a Jackie Chan film are shown and there's even a rocket-fueled truck driving through the desert — it looks like a Fast & Furious sequence as much as it sounds like one.

While Chan's character tells Cena that he wanted to shoot him the first time that he saw them, the two share a fistbump at the very end of the trailer.
