The Chicago Cubs are slowly becoming a team to watch this season in the MLB, sitting a few games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the lead in the NL Central after 45 games this season. Fans seeking tickets on TickPick for the Cubs home game at Wrigley Field against the Pittsburgh Pirates were in for a surprise, as they did not only get the chance to watch the game but also actually get in the game.

A fan found a hilarious gaffe on ticket resale market TickPick, where fans purchasing a ticket have an option to play outfield in the Cubs-Pirates game. “Holy s***, at the Cubs-Pirates game tomorrow you can play center field for $90,” the fan said.

When people saw the screenshot of the error on TickPick, reactions on the social network X, formerly Twitter, ranged from hilarious to unorthodox.

“Put me in coach!” one commenter said, with another posting a GIF on how he would be performing under the bright lights of Wrigley Field.

Another fan, inversely, expects fans to pelt him with debris after one inning of bad fielding.

However, the ticket did not specify whether the potential ticketholder would play for either the Cubs or the Pirates, leading a fan to ask: “For which team tho[ugh], or is it like backyard rules where you play for both teams?”

A fan, however, gave an off-the-left-field response, saying the MLB should seriously consider allowing a non-player to take the field in a non-bearing late regular season game and donate the proceeds to charity.

“Jokes aside – they should ACTUALLY do this in August/September when two teams face off that are both eliminated from the playoffs. I’d pay $20k+ to play short for an entire MLB game. Fans would love it and they could donate the money to charity,” the commenter said.

TickPick jumped in and acknowledged the hilarious error, saying: “LOL not only do we not add fees at checkout, we give you the opportunity to play,” the post said, adding the company was working to fix the gaffe.

Cubs look to break Brewers' NL Central stranglehold

The Chicago Cubs hold a 25-20 record, two games behind NL Central leader Milwaukee Brewers, which hold a 26-17 record and is third in the NL. The Cubs dropped the first of their four-game series against the Pirates, 5-4, their third loss in their last four games.

The Cubs last took the NL Central pennant in the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season. Since then, the Brewers took the 2021 and 2023 pennants, both under now Cubs manager Craig Counsell.

As they are a few games against the Brewers in a tight NL Central race, the Cubs may consider a couple of changes in their weak spots in the pitching, catching, and third base positions.
