When speculations about Chris Paul not staying in Oklahoma City Thunder started making rounds on social media, one would think that the Charlotte Hornets would be interested in trading for the former All-Star. After all, they just lost an All-Star of their own in Kemba Walker.

Apparently, not even the Hornets are interested in absorbing CP3's contract, even if that makes them slightly better.

This actually makes sense because the Hornets have a boatload of bad contracts they want to get rid of. They overpaid Nicolas Batum, Marvin Williams, and Bismack Biyombo and are now paying the hefty price of being financially handcuffed. To make things worse, they also overpaid Terry Rozier, and no matter how many times they tell the media that they are confident about his potential, there's no denying the fact that Rozier isn't worth the contract he received at this point

Adding Paul would probably allow them to throw away two of those bad contracts, but that would make things uncomfortable with Rozier, especially after all the public statements they've made about the 25-year-old guard.

Lastly, even if the Hornets decided to go after Paul, they do not have enough assets to trade with the Thunder. OKC is probably not interested with any of Charlotte's players, which means that a trade between both teams will already be dead even before it begins.

At this point, the Hornets have no choice but to continue to look for any team who will be willing to trade for any of their overpaid veterans, as adding another one doesn't really help their cause.
