Kemba Walker admits he was “a little bit heartbroken” the Charlotte Hornets didn't offer him the deal he was looking for in free agency.

The Hornets didn't offer Walker the supermax contract he was eligible for.

The three-time All-Star also says he was excited about change and is looking forward to suiting up with the Boston Celtics.

“I wouldn't say disappointed. Was I little bit heartbroken? Yeah. No question,” Walker told ESPN's Jackie MacMullan. “I mean like I said, I've been there for so long and that's the only place I know. But as time went on, I started to get so excited about change and a new situation. And now I'm a Boston Celtic. I'm super excited.”

Kemba Walker signed a four-year, $140.79 million maximum contract with the Celtics as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Hornets. Walker is the Hornets' all-time leader in points, minutes played, field goals, three-point field goals and win shares.

Charlotte acquired Terry Rozier from the Celtics in the sign-and-trade deal. Hornets fans are going to give Walker a long standing ovation when he makes his return to town. They know the franchise failed to surround the guard with talent during his tenure with the team.
