Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball went right at Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine early in their teams' matchup at Spectrum Center on Friday.

The 19-year-old flashy playmaker was unfazed by LaVine's tight defense, as he powered right past him for an and-one beauty.

LaMelo Ball made use of his 6-foot-7 frame to absorb contact from the Bulls' high-flyer and still converted the bucket. Lauri Markkanen also tried to disrupt the attempt of the Hornets rookie, but he did not make a difference.

Entering Friday's contest, Ball and the Hornets (6-8) were looking to end their three-game slide. Chicago, on the other hand, had the same record and were looking to extend their two-game winning streak.

Despite Charlotte's recent cold streak, the third overall pick of last year's draft continues to impress with his play.

In his first 14 games for the Hornets as a pro, the youngest of the Ball brood is averaging 11.8 points on 40.3 percent shooting from the field and 33.3 percent from downtown, along with 6.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.5 steals. Ball is currently on top of the current rookie ladder, outshining his fellow lottery picks Anthony Edwards and James Wiseman. He also recently became the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double.

Promising days are indeed ahead in Buzz City, with LaMelo Ball handling the keys to the Hornets offense.
