Owners of the fourth-place record in the Eastern Conference at 27-24, the Charlotte Hornets have done well even in the absence of rookie point guard LaMelo Ball and are coming off consecutive wins. But the Hornets are clearly a better team with Ball, the favorite for Rookie of the Year before suffering an injury to his right wrist last month.

Even if the injury is expected to keep him out for a while longer that hasn’t stopped the 19-year-old from joining the team and continuing to work on his game. He was even seen shooting with his left hand with the team’s staff before the Hornets' game against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday:

With his right hand still placed in a cast, it is an encouraging sign to see Ball return to the court and take shots using his left hand. While initial expectations had him out for the rest of the reason due to his injury, it was later announced that he will be reevaluated and that the door for a comeback later this season remains a possibility.

Seeing him back on the court and taking shots a couple of weeks later certainly strengthens the chance that he could return this season:

Before his injury, Ball was averaging 15.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists for Charlotte while shooting 45.1% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc. He may not be able to join his teammates on the court when they face the 28-25 Hawks, the current fifth seed in the East, but not even an injury could stop him from trying to improve his game as he works his way back from injury.
