The Charlotte Hornets are in search of their next head coach after the unceremonious firing of James Borrego. There's reportedly one high-profile candidate that could be in the mix.

According to Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer, former Golden State Warriors head coach and NBA analyst Mark Jackson is one name LaMelo Ball would like to see as his next mentor on the sidelines.

Via B/R:

Jackson is popular among many active players, perhaps because of his visibility as a color commentator for ESPN or his status as a former All-Star and the 1987-88 Rookie of the Year. LeBron James is known to have interest in Jackson for the Los Angeles Lakers' opening, as does LaMelo Ball with the Charlotte Hornets' vacancy, sources said.

Mark Jackson isn't the most decorated NBA head coach, with just three campaigns under his belt. But his reputation as a coach who can motivate his players is widely known around the league thanks to his work with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson before they turned into a championship churning dynasty.

The Hornets are in no shortage of talent, with guys like LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, and Terry Rozier capable of dropping big-time performances on any given night. Veterans like Kelly Oubre Jr. and Gordon Hayward are also high-level competitors currently coming off the bench.

With such a mix of versatile, interchangeable parts on the roster, the right voice from a guy like Mark Jackson leading the way could be what transforms the Hornets from fringe play-in team to true playoff contender.
