Kawhi Leonard knows that the Miami Heat had a very disappointing season. They got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round. They had defeated the Bucks in five games in the 2020 playoffs but looked horrible this year. Star forward Jimmy Butler struggled offensively throughout this 2021 series and it really changed the dynamic of the battle.
Many claimed the Heat to be the beneficiaries of the Orlando bubble last year, but the talent is still there.
The Bucks simply improved their roster even more while the Heat roster remained the same.
It is now clear that the Heat will need to improve the roster if they are going to compete in the Eastern Conference.
Luckily for the Heat there is a very intriguing option who could join them in free agency.
Los Angeles Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard may be on the way out and would be a perfect fit for the Heat. The Clippers struggled in the playoffs last year and have continued similarly this year so far. Leonard alongside Paul George has not worked out and it is time for him to move on.
Why the Heat should pursue Kawhi Leonard
Obviously Leonard is one of the best players in the league but there is a reason beyond that to pursue him. Leonard is similar to Butler as they are great defenders and play with intensity every night out on the floor. Bringing in Leonard would fix some of the problems that the Heat have and could make them contenders again.
With teams like the Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, and Philadelphia 76ers as front runners in the East, the Heat need to make this move. Those teams all have “Big 3's” and the Heat lacked a 3rd option to Butler and Bam Adabeyo. The Heat would be a lethal team if they were able to add Leonard.

This Heat team has so much depth but just needs one more star. With great shooters and role players around them, a team with Leonard would be tough to beat even with other great teams in the East. Butler and the rest of the roster would benefit from the addition of Leonard. It would make the offense flow easier. It would also add another great defender to the team making it very hard on opposing teams to score.
Why Kawhi Leonard should join the Heat
It's easy to say that the Heat should add Leonard but why should he join them? Leonard could get back to being on a championship contending team if he joined Miami. Although many have thought the Clippers would be a contender they have not been and Leonard needs to go somewhere else.
Joining Miami would allow him to get back to the level he was playing at with the Toronto Raptors. He was playing so well during that championship run with the Raptors. The Heat would be the perfect team to get back to that point. Leonard would have great talent around him and it would elevate his legacy even more.
Leonard and Butler would be the perfect duo especially with a center in Adabeyo. The depth around this “big 3” would make Miami hard to beat even for the other contenders in the East.
If Leonard signs with the Heat it will be hard for anyone in the league to beat them.
