Dante Exum has been through a lot of injuries in his first five seasons in the league, but the Utah Jazz guard is still optimistic that he will eventually find his mark in the NBA.

Exum told Eric Woodyard of the Deseret News that he is very eager to stay healthy and show that he can help the Jazz win. The Australian playmaker said that his main goal for the 2019-20 season is to become injury-free.

“I just want to show what I can do for the team and I think if I just stay on the court, that’s going to be my main goal,” Exum said. “I can help the team win. I believe that.”

The five-year veteran played just 42 games in 2018-19 after he was limited by a knee injury and a severe left ankle sprain. During the 2017-18 NBA season, he appeared in just 14 regular-season games because he dealt with a shoulder injury. Exum also missed the entire 2015-16 NBA season due to an ACL tear.

While the first five years of his career did not go as planned, the Jazz and his teammates still have a lot of faith in the young guard. He will be playing behind a star point guard next season after Utah acquired veteran Mike Conley in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies.
