It seems like the NBA Rookie of the Year race is probably down to two guys. Donovan Mitchell and Ben Simmons look to be the favorites to land the award, but Mitchell seems to be the guy getting the most praise from other teams.

House of Highlights posted on Instagram a picture of Mitchell after he helped lead them to their tenth straight win, and there were a couple of familiar comments on it.

DeMarcus Cousins commented “Roty” referring to rookie of the year, while DeMar DeRozan commented “Rookie of the year. Period!”

They haven't been the only guys to keep the young rookie praise either. Damian Lillard has also been very vocal about why he feels it should go in the way of the young Utah Jazz guard. Per Joe Freeman of  The Oregonian Lillard said:

“I think he should be Rookie of the Year, for sure,” Damian Lillard said of Mitchell. “Not just because of his numbers, but his impact on their team. He’s basically leading them. It’s special to see a rookie be able to do what he’s doing out there.”

He also goes on to say he doesn't think he's just a great rookie.

“He’s a really, really, really good player,” Lillard said. “Not just for a rookie, just as a player in this league, period.”

Mitchell has shown that he belongs in the NBA this season and that he will be here for a very long time. For the Jazz this year, he is averaging 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

There is still a lot of time left to decide the Rookie of the Year, but no matter who wins, Mitchell has made himself a few fans around the NBA.
