Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell was indignant after watching the video of Kenosha police shooting Jacob Blake in the back. The young star is fresh off a couple of 50-point performances in his first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, now one win away from reaching the second round, yet Mitchell couldn't help but leave everything else aside while police violence still permeates across the United States.

Mitchell took to Twitter on Monday, getting a fairly simple message across:

Jacob Blake was shot several times in the back in broad daylight. The 29-year-old was reportedly breaking up a scuffle between two women and is in critical condition after several bullet wounds. The shooting sparked mass protests in Kenosha.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers delivered this statement on the shooting:

“While we do not have all of the details yet, what we know for certain is that he is not the first Black man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement in our state or our country,” Evers said in a statement, via CBS News.

NBA players have been wearing messages of social justice against racism for the entirety of the restart of the 2019-20 NBA season. Postgame interviews have been heavily laced with social commentary and meant to raise awareness of this very issue: Black men, women, and even children are repeatedly victims of racism and violence at the hands of law enforcement.

Mitchell, like many other NBA players, was again disgusted to see one of his own be the victim of police violence.
