Utah Jazz rising star Donovan Mitchell in a Philadelphia 76ers jersey just looks weird. A Twitter user posted a jersey swap of Mitchell wearing the blue Philly jersey. When he asked Mitchell about his thoughts, the reigning Slam Dunk champion gave a simple “Na” as his response.
Mitchell developed a rivalry with Ben Simmons of the Sixers last season amidst their heated Rookie of the Year race. Simmons sat out a full season after he was drafted, so Mitchell questioned whether or not Simmons should be considered a true rookie.
Of course, Simmons ended up winning the award despite the fact that he was drafted a year earlier than Mitchell. The healthy rivalry should be fun to watch for years to come.
And don't worry too much about Mitchell jumping ship in Utah to join Simmons and Joel Embiid in Philadelphia. Mitchell and Simmons are poised to be All-Stars for years to come.
Mitchell held a significant scoring advantage over Simmons last season, but the Philly rookie was the much better all-around player.
Of course, Mitchell is committed to Utah. But a team with Simmons, Mitchell, and Embiid would be really fun to watch.
Imagine a team where Embiid can get a block on the defensive end, Simmons starts the break and finds a cutting Mitchell for the dunk in transition. That's a big three with loads of talent.
But Utah has Mitchell signed for a few more years so don't expect to see this anytime soon. The rivalry between Mitchell and Simmons isn't going anywhere anytime soon too.
