Utah Jazz assistant coach and former National Basketball Players Association vice president Keyon Dooling is in a heap of trouble right now. The 41-year-old was recently arrested for allegedly taking part in a health care scandal that aimed to defraud the NBA for up to $5 million.

Dooling has been placed on indefinite leave by the Jazz as he attends to these grave charges. If these stick, the former NBA journeyman could be facing jail time along with 19 other individuals that have also been included in this case.

Dooling was added to the pool of ex-players that are being charged for their fraudulent activity. Per the amended indictment, Dooling and his cohorts attempted “to defraud the National Basketball Association’s Health and Welfare Benefit Plan out of at least approximately $5 million.” Dooling allegedly recruited other players “by offering to supply them with false invoices to support their false and fraudulent claims to the Plan in exchange for payments.”

The Jazz have released a statement to confirm Dooling's arrest, but they have refused to provide any further comments on this sensitive situation:

“Keyon made us aware of the situation this morning. It is a case concerning his time at the National Basketball Players Association, prior to him joining our organization. He has been put on paid administrative leave. Due to the ongoing legal process, we will refrain from further comment.”
