The Utah Jazz took a punch to the gut with the news of forward Joe Ingles being done for the rest of the 2021-22 NBA season due to an ACL injury. Not only are the Jazz now missing the versatility that Ingles provides, but it also appears that the Australian's injury has taken away Utah's leverage in making a trade for Harrison Barnes, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report:

Harrison Barnes had been mentioned as a primary target for Utah. But Joe Ingles' unfortunate ACL injury has now further limited the Utah Jazz's flexibility for defensive improvements on the wing. With Ingles out for the remainder of the season, he can solely function as an expiring contract.

Ingles went down with the injury last Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves and eventually got diagnosed with an ACL tear that would take several months to heal. It also comes at an especially inopportune time, as Ingles is on the last year of a  four-year deal that he signed with Utah back in 2017.

Meanwhile, the Jazz have also been mentioned in a rumor about the team being a potential landing spot for Boston Celtics wing Josh Richardson, a solid perimeter defender who can help mitigate the impact of Ingles' absence.

In other Celtics discussions, Boston continues searching for landing spots for point guard Dennis Schroder and wing Josh Richardson. A framework of Schroder to Chicago for Troy Brown Jr. and a second-round pick has circulated around the league, while the Jazz have been consistently mentioned as a possible destination for Richardson
