Washington Wizards rookie Rui Hachimura had himself a “welcome to the NBA” moment courtesy of Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell on Friday night.

The impressive 22-year-old saw firsthand how explosive Mitchell can be around the rim, as he was served a nasty facial during the Wizards' road game versus the Jazz at the Vivint Smart Home Arena.

Mitchell freed himself up using a solid screen from fellow All-Star Rudy Gobert and proceeded to attack the rim. After getting momentum from a slick gather step, Mitchell stepped on the boosters and cocked the ball back with right hand.

Hachimura came over the weak side to help but his efforts were simply too little too late. Mitchell baptized the Japanese stud with a thunderous slamma jamma that he won't forget anytime soon.

Seems like the rook realized his fate while mid-air, as he pulled back from extending his arms to avoid a possible and-one play.

Despite getting posterized on Friday, Hachimura is actually churning out a solid rookie season so far.  In 34 appearances, the 22-year-old Gonzaga alum has been averaging 13.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.
