A Jet Set Radio Reboot and a Crazy Taxi Reboot are currently being developed by Sega, as the gaming giant wants to revive them for big bucks.

Sega's Super Game Initiative will be headlined by two fan-favorite classics: Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio. However, while the news that we're finally getting a Crazy Taxi Reboot and Jet Set Radio Reboot sounds exciting, there's a huge caveat that fans should know about. The Super Game Initiative is Sega's own game plan for their own Metaverse and NFT dealings. So, if you're not a big fan of the Metaverse concept or by NFT in general, then tough luck – Sega's planning to use Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio to hook people into this.

A silver lining here is that Sega really wants to make their Super Game Initiative work, so they are not sparing any resources for this game. Bloomberg sources say that there is big money involved in the return of these two classic games, so we should be able to expect at least high production value out of these games. But big money in production also means high returns expectations, so expect that the game will have features and mechanics meant to drain your wallet. Reports even say that the games are being designed on the Fortnite template – massively multiplayer that crosses over with a lot of different IPs. It honestly sounds exciting, but we also have to reel ourselves back just a tiny bit to make sure we don't get our hopes up too high.

While news about the new Crazy Taxi Reboot and Jet Set Radio Reboot games are out now, we don't think the games will actually be ready for public consumption anytime soon. We think an early 2025 release date would be a realistic guess for both games.
