Week 6 might have been the peak of the New York Jets season. It marked the return of Sam Darnold, after being out four weeks with mononucleosis, and gave many Jets fans hope after beating the Dallas Cowboys 24-22. It has been pretty much all downhill since then with Sunday's loss to the previously winless Miami Dolphins marking rock bottom for Gang Green.

According to NFL.com's Kevin Patra, first-year head coach Adam Gase had some choice words when asked about how he felt about the loss to a Miami Dolphins team that has seemingly traded away all their talented players, stating, “It's the NFL. You can't be embarrassed by this s—.”

There is no doubt that Gase feels the pressure mounting in New York as fans will not be satisfied with a 1-7 record and sitting at the bottom of the AFC East. Although it is only Gase's first year in New York if his team continues to underperform it might very well be his last. The team has looked sluggish and incapable of calling plays that play to the strength of second-year quarterback Sam Darnold.

Darnold hasn't faired much better as he has not progressed and continues to make questionable throws and decisions. To make matters worse the stars of the team in Le'Veon Bell, who was just acquired this past offseason, and Jamal Adams were shopped around at the trade deadline last week with Adams taking it very personally.

The Jets will have to show some improvement and effort in the coming weeks in order for Gase to keep his job and to prevent the franchise from suffering more years of disappointing defeats.
