The Jacksonville Jaguars have made some big decisions this NFL offseason in an effort to capitalize on their stellar 2017 NFL season. As a result, they have had to part ways with some of the more notable names on their roster.

Among them is wide receiver Allen Hurns, who was released along with tight end Mercedes Lewis earlier today. However, it has not taken long for Hurns to garner interest from a number of suitors.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, he is expected to meet with the New York Jets on Wednesday:

I'm told ex-Jags, free agent WR Allen Hurns has a “visit with the Jets tomorrow,” per source.

Hurns signed with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2014 NFL season. Needless to say, he has since proven to be a bit of a gem when healthy.

The former Miami product quickly established a solid role in the offense as a bonafide playmaker and red zone threat. He followed up his solid rookie campaign by registering a career-high 64 receptions for 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns. Unfortunately, Hurns has been unable to mirror that production after suffering season-ending injuries in back-to-back seasons.

Fortunately, it seems he has done more than enough to garner some serious attention on the open market. The Jets certainly make plenty of sense as a potential destination. New York is looking to revitalize its passing attack with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in town, and they may be willing to pay top dollar in order to do so. Furthermore, there is a good chance that Hurns can establish himself as a primary option in the offense alongside wide receiver Robby Anderson.
