When Bill Parcells was a coach he was known as a hard nose guy who wasn't afraid to get in his guy's faces and did a lot of yelling. Parcells was also known as a player's coach though, and he had a soft spot for a lot of the guys he helped develop through his years.

Although he isn't still developing players he is still growing his connections with players in the NFL today including New York Jets quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. He first met Bridgewater before he was drafted in 2014 by the Minnesota Vikings and he instantly developed a liking for him according to ESPN. After the injury, Parcells was very worried about Bridgewater and he is very happy to see him getting back on the field.

“This was a very, very serious injury,” Parcells said by phone Wednesday. “It wasn't just, ‘Oh, well, he had knee surgery.' Trust me.

“I’m just happy for Teddy. He deserves another chance. He was very close to not ever getting it.”

Parcells has been impressed with Bridgewater's determination and how hard he has had to fight to come back.

“Hey, when you go through these travails and things like that, in the end it’s more satisfying,” he said. “When you have to climb that mountain — and he had a big mountain to climb, this kid. Now he’s back playing. How could you not hope he’s successful? You can't help but root for him. I'm rooting for him and he knows that.”

It's still to be seen if Bridgewater will be able to make the team but even if he doesn't, what he has done up to this point is nothing short of remarkable.
