New York Jets fans are in shambles following their 26-18 loss to the lowly Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and understandably so.
After all, the Dolphins were viewed as a historically bad team by many over their first seven games, as they went 0-7 and seemed entirely bereft of talent on both sides of the ball.
But the Jets apparently aren't much better, as both teams are now 1-7 through nine weeks.
Afterward, Jets cornerback Darryl Roberts took to social media (via Matt Stypulkoski of NJ Advance Media) to rip Gang Green fans, calling them “fake” and that they should shut up and go like another team if they aren't going to support the Jets.
Roberts has been a member of the Jets since 2016, so he is surely familiar with how the New York fanbase operates by now, and apparently, he is tired of it.
Through eight games this season, Roberts has logged 47 tackles, an interception and five passes defended.
The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Marshall, was originally selected by the New England Patriots in the seventh round (247th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.
However, Roberts was placed on the injured reserve list for his rookie campaign and did not play a single game for the Patriots before being waived in September 2016. He then signed with the Jets.
Roberts began his Gang Green tenure primarily in a backup role, but became a starting cornerback last year.
The Jets will now try to regroup before they take on the New York Giants next Sunday.
