Garrett Wilson just dropped the first bomb of his NFL career. The New York Jets wide receiver was appearing on The Pivot Podcast with Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder when the NFL alums dropped a truth bomb on the rookie.

Wilson was explaining how much he was looking forward to taking his fellow Jets receivers out to dinner.

“That’s going to be cool, I’m excited for that,” said Wilson, who turns 22 next week.

Clark knowingly shook his head and deadpanned, “It’s not going to be cool.”

The hosts proceeded to explain how expensive rookie dinners can be, dropping a $75,000 price tag on the naïve Wilson.

“They ain’t doing me for 75k,” a suddenly more serious Wilson retorted.

As the hosts cracked up, Crowder said to the group, “He thinks it’s his decision!”

Wilson laughed along, but the sheer terror in his eyes didn’t completely disappear.

The Jets can only hope he handles bombs thrown by quarterback Zach Wilson better than how this one slid threw his hands.

So far, so good with that. Garrett Wilson has impressed during OTAs and minicamp. He’s a multi-dimensional threat, who can play in the slot or out wide.

And he’s a playmaker, as evidenced by the 12 touchdowns he caught in 11 games at Ohio State last season.

The Jets expect great things from Wilson, whom they selected in the first round, 10th overall, of the 2022 draft.

Wilson is expected to start alongside Corey Davis and Elijah Moore this season. Braxton Berrios returns as one of Zach Wilson’s favorite targets; Jeff Smith has looked terrific this offseason; and Denzel Mims is in outstanding shape and could be ready to finally get his game right in his third season.

Moore expressed his excitement about this group of receivers during minicamp.

“I just feel like there’s no way a team should be able to guard three of us, plus all the other guys that are coming along, too,” Moore said. “So, I feel like we’ve got a good group.”

There’ll be a learning curve for Wilson, of course. And that’s not simply contained to what occurs on the field. As he showed on The Pivot Podcast, Wilson still has a thing or two to learn from it, as well.
