New York Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has never been afraid to push his player's buttons, even the stars like Jamal Adams.

According to Williams via Pro Football Talk, the first time he met Adams he told him that he has coached a lot better players than him.

“I’ve coached a lot better people than you before,” Williams said to Adams.

It's really not a surprise that Williams would say something like that because he has always been known as one of the tougher coaches in the league.

Adams is one of the brightest young stars in the league but has been impressed with Williams so far and a big reason is that he is always pushing trying to get players better.

“He’s coaching us hard. He wants the best out of us and you can run through a wall for a coach like that,” Adams said of Williams via the Jets team website. “I think our whole staff is like that. Our whole staff has a lot of energy and different backgrounds. They’ve been with each other in different places but to have all of them in one spot, I think it could be special for us, and we’re excited to have them all.”

Last season, Adams racked up 112 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 12 pass defenses, one interception, and three forced fumbles. Adams knows that wasn't good enough and doesn't want to get complacent.

Last year is behind him and now he's focused on getting better and helping the Jets win more games this year.
