Losing can hurt. New York Jets safety Jamal Adams takes every single one of his losses personally and emotionally. However, Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals was different — Adams was in tears after. Not because of the loss, but because of what happened during it.

Though Adams played the entire game, he was seen in the locker room with a boot on his left foot, per multiple reports. He was in tears by his locker as he said he injured his foot early in the defeat and never felt right the rest of the way, per Conner J. Hughes of The Athletic.

Per NJ.com, Adams says he does not know what the injury is being diagnosed as. The injury staff is still figuring that out. He noted that it bothered him a lot throughout the game.

“I couldn't perform,” said Adams. “But, I felt like if I just shut it down, I was letting my teammates down. I can't do that.”

It is currently unknown precisely what Adams suffered on Sunday. However, based on his body language, it doesn't sound too positive for Jets faithful. Rarely is Adams one to be as discouraged after a game — no matter the result — as he was on Sunday.

If Adams is out for an extended time, it would be a massive blow to the Jets defense. Considered as one of the few elite safeties in the NFL, Adams is a leader for New York and a difference-maker on the field. Stay tuned for more updates.
