The New York Jets made a rather surprising move earlier this month, firing general manager Mike Maccagnan, an interesting decision considering that Maccagnan's dismissal came after free agency and the draft.

Jets safety Jamal Adams was not too taken back, saying that's simply how things work in sports:

“Business is business, man. That's just how it is,” said Adams, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

Maccagnan lost his job as a result of a power struggle with new head coach Adam Gase, with many speculating that New York's signing of running back Le'Veon Bell was the final straw for Gase.

Apparently, Gase did not want Bell, so Maccagnan's decision to sign the three-time Pro Bowler did not make Gase too happy.

Still, it was odd that the Jets allowed Maccagnan to handle the draft only to just can him afterward, and as a result, New York has been taking a lot of flak for the way it handled the situation, and rightfully so.

Gase has now taken over for Maccagnan in the interim while the Jets hunt for their next general manager.

New York not only signed Bell, but also made some big additions like wide receiver Jamison Crowder and linebacker C.J. Mosley, and because of the Jets' strong offseason, some feel that they are a sleeper playoff contender heading into 2019.

Gang Green won just four games this past season, resulting in the firing of head coach Todd Bowles after four years. The Jets have not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 campaign.
