Star running back Le'Veon Bell is on track to hit the free agent market where there will be several teams voicing their interest in acquiring his services. Bell took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to shut down one possible destination: the New York Jets.
Despite that, Jets strong safety Jamal Adams responded to the strong comments from the three-time Pro Bowler voicing that he would help financially to convince Bell to seriously consider joining New York.
Although this will ultimately be Bell's decision to make, it's quite clear that he will be a highly sought out commodity on the open market by various teams, if he doesn't agree to a long-term deal in Pittsburgh. The Jets do need to improve their running game that finished 19th this season behind their duo of Bilal Powell and Matt Forte.
New York hs plenty of financial flexibility with $72.45 million in salary cap space to offer Bell the type of deal that he is looking to garner. However, there is no desire from him to make the jump next season to the Jets.
Bell has voiced that he wants to finish his NFL career with the Steelers, but he has also made it known that he doesn't want to get the franchise tag placed on him for the second straight year. Keep in mind, there are reports that the team has placed a Feb. 20 deadline to work out a long-term deal, which is also the first day that they can use the franchise tag for the 2018 campaign.
In the last couple of seasons, Bell has established himself as being arguably the best running back in the league. He is coming off another highly productive campaign where he finished third in rushing yards with 1,291 while recording nine touchdowns. He was also a huge factor as a receiver, leading his position with a career-high and NFL record 85 catches for 655 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
