New York Jets safety Jamal Adams was pretty blunt in his assessment of the team after its season-ending loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon, saying that the team just lacks talent, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com.

“We need more players and we need more dogs, simple as that,” Adams said. “You have to go get players, man. You have to get big-time players. It's simple. You look at the Saints. You look at the Rams. You look at the Chicago Bears. You look at all those teams. You have to go get players. We have talent. We're just not all the way there. You can't beat around the bush. That's why we've been losing. We've been beating around the bush. You can't beat around the bush. You have to get real with yourself.”

Asked if his statement was in support for head coach Todd Bowles, Adams said the following:

“Hey, man, I always support my coach. … I've always said what I've said, and it's not his fault, if that answers your question.”

Bowles was fired after the season finale on Sunday after spending four seasons with the Jets, posting a 26-41 record during his tenure.

Adams also added that he will be heavily involved in recruiting free agents.

The second-year safety was named to the Pro Bowl this season after racking up 115 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and 13 passes defended,

New York finished the season with a record of 4-12 after its loss to the Patriots.
