The New York Jets have quite a test ahead of them when they face the Philadelphia Eagles. However, they have some good news to hold on to as their franchise quarterback has returned to team practice.

Sam Darnold, who was out for three weeks after contracting mono, was practicing for the first time in a good while for the Jets. It's possible that he'll see some action against the Eagles.

Nevertheless, the team is taking their time with rushing him back to the team. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News wrote that the Jets are still unsure as to whether hand the starting position back to Darnold so soon.

Luke Falk, for one, is ready to step up if the team decides to not risk him against a tough opponent so soon:

“You've just got to lock in mentally,” Falk said about the possibility of starting against the Eagles on Sunday without getting the lion’s share of first-team practice reps. “You've got to get the physical reps after practice with the guys and lock in mentally when (Darnold) is getting his reps with the (starters). So, you've got to be ready to roll.”

Falk hasn't been a bad option at QB for the Jets. He got 296 passing yards and a 68% completion rate in the two games he played for the Jets. He showed off his throwing arm after completing a 36-yard pass.

However, Darnold is still the man the Jets need. If they need him badly enough, they can probably insert him back to the field as early as the second half.

This only happens if he's in good enough shape to play, though.
