The New York Jets own the No. 3 overall pick in next week's NFL Draft, but they may not actually take anyone with the pick.

There has long been talk that the Jets have been trying to trade down from the third spot. According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, New York is “determined” to make a deal.

An NFL executive also had this to say about Gang Green:

“They seem to really, really want to move down,” said one NFL executive. “Maybe they're just keeping their options open, but it sure seems like that No. 3 pick is for sale.”

The Jets aren't keeping this a secret. General manager Mike Maccagnan has said numerous times this offseason that he is “open” to the idea of moving down.

It might not be a bad idea for New York.

The Jets already landed the guy they think will be their quarterback of the future, Sam Darnold, last spring. New York also patched up a bunch of holes on its roster through free agency this offseason.

It might make sense for the Jets to trade out of the No. 3 pick and acquire more assets, since New York does not own a second-round pick. Remember: The Jets have also been rumored to be interested in Seattle Seahawks defensive end Frank Clark, so this could be the team's way of trying to accumulate as many pieces as possible to deal for Clark and still have some picks left over.
