Jamal Adams has been anxiously waiting for a trade from the New York Jets and he's finally gotten his wish. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, New York has traded Adams to the Seattle Seahawks.

Altogether, the Seahawks are going to be acquiring Adams and a 2022 fourth-round pick. On the other hand, the Jets were able to get quite a haul for the All-Pro safety, netting them two future first-round selections, a 2021 third-round pick, and Bradley McDougald.

Over a month ago, Adams officially requested a trade from the Jets due to a contract dispute with the organization. The former No. 6 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft still had two years remaining on his rookie deal. But Adams was interested in being rewarded an extension before the 2020 season.

Even though New York adamantly stated they wanted to keep Adams a ‘Jet for life', they showed no interest in inking him to a long-term deal. Therefore, Adams requested a trade and extended a list of teams he was interested in going to.

One of Adams' desired destinations was Seattle and barring physicals, he'll be headed to the Northwest soon. Russell Wilson has already expressed his excitement in the Seahawks making a move for Adams.

For the Seahawks, landing Adams gives them a cornerstone player to build around in the secondary. At the same time, they gave up a few valuable picks to acquire the versatile safety.

As for the Jets, it was evident that Adams wasn't going to play another down for them unless he got a lucrative extension. Therefore, New York took the best offer they were going to get for Adams in the end. With that being said, the Jets have no excuses moving forward with all of the assets they now possess.
