The New York Jets are heading to a crucial offseason after going through yet another losing campaign. Jets safety and defensive captain Marcus Maye claimed that the team isn't lacking in terms of talent and its core can already be found within the players that they currently have on their roster.

“We've got a great group of guys, we've got some pieces we can add to,” Maye said via the team‘s website. “For the most part I feel like the core is here. You just find more guys to plug in with this group and go on from there. The talent is here, there's pieces here.”

Gang Green already started its rebuilding efforts after firing head coach Adam Gase by the end of the regular season. The tactician has been at the helm since 2019 and recently led the Jets to a 2-14 record. He amassed a 9-23 overall record through two seasons with the team.

The Jets didn't waste much time as they proceeded to sign former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to be the team's new head coach. Saleh and his coaching staff will be having a big decision to make come late April as they possess the second overall pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.

Whoever they select will certainly hope to make an immediate impact alongside the team's main contributors in Maye, defensive end Quinnen Williams, and offensive tackle Mekhi Beckton, among others.

Perhaps a silver lining from their disappointing campaign was their two-consecutive victories against the Los Angeles Rams and the Cleveland Browns in Weeks 15 and 16, respectively. Nevertheless, they have more work to do in terms of improving the players that they have moving forward.

Hopefully, the new coaching regime along with their current players will be enough for the Jets to turn things around and get back to relevance in the years to come.
