Back in March, the New York Jets signed New Jersey native Vinny Curry in free agency.

Fast forward to August, and Curry made a startling statement about coming down with a rare blood disorder that will cause him to miss the entire 2021 season for the Jets.

Curry was set to enter his 10th year in the league. He played 8 seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles and one for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was set to play right back near home with the Jets but will now miss the season.

The defensive end painted a vivid picture with his words in describing what happened. Curry had his spleen removed in the offseason and was actually set to play this year for the Jets. When blood clots started to form and he was put on thinners to get rid of them, that was the final straw for any hope that Curry could play this year.

Thankfully for Curry, his problem was diagnosed and taken care of and it appears he should be able to resume his football career once next year rolls around. The Jets responded to this news by putting Curry on the Reserve/NFI list for the year.

It's the second big blow just at the defensive end spot for New York so for in training camp. Carl Lawson was already ruled out for the year after suffering a torn achilles injury.

Robert Saleh will have to try and work his magic in year one as the head coach of the Jets while they will be without two of their better defensive ends.
