Former rapper and renowned host of The Joe Budden Podcast Joe Budden is the latest person to anticipate that HBCU bands will be performing Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss “Not Like Us” come Fall. Budden mentioned it on the latest episode of his podcast where he gleefully dance to the horn-heavy song alongside his co-hosts Emanny, Queenzflip, and Melyssa Ford.

“You better thank your ******** heavens up above that it isn't HBCU season! You better thank God,” Budden said before he and Queenzflip mimicked the moves of HBCU band members.

HBCU bands around the nation are known for their soulful renditions of old-school songs and hit Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B, and Pop songs. band culture is also one of the more famed aspect of the HBCU experience, with millions flocking to YouTube to watch halftime, zero & fifth quarter performances as well as stand battles. It is a great chance that each and every song in the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar will be performed by HBCU bands when football season rolls around.

Budden wasn't the only person with this take, as many flocked to social media to speak on their anticipation of HBCU bands doing a rendition of the song soon.

“Not Like Us” is gonna temporarily replace “Neck” this season during HBCU football games …Get a Pick 6 … Not Like Us…Go up three TDs … Not Like Us…Get a game-clinching sack or turnover … Not Like Us,” posted @FredBatiste.

“Best believe either @SonicBoomOTS or @SU_HumanJukebox are going to pull that song out this fall. Not Like Us is still going to have a heavy rotation for HBCU season and by the end of the year,” posted @JelonAlexander.

“Long summer? ‘Not Like Us' is perfect for an HBCU band. That's summer into homecoming season right there. The 69 God took the bait and is learning the hard way,” posted @Aqua174.

“Budden made a great point…HBCU bands gonna play “not like us” to the heavens! Band directors writing that one up right now,” posted @recruittheboot.

“First, shout out the Joe Budden Podcast for putting some respect on HBCU Bands! Second, if Not Like Us is still being played in the summer, it will ABSOLUTELY get played by bands. Third, as a proud member of the FAMU Marching 100, watching Joe march was HILARIOUS,” posted Florida A&M alumna and former Marching 100 member @JANAMiziK.

“They not like us is not going anywhere anytime soon. Sports arenas and clubs. Frats and sororities at HBCU’s. Yesterday downtown Brooklyn on schemerhorn the dude selling the free cell phones had the entire line bopping. People definitely underestimated this dude lol,” posted @EsqMontgomery.

As the school year wraps up and bands have months to arrange their rendition of “Not Like Us,” it's clear that this hit diss track will resonate throughout the year.
