Draymond Green‘s place on team USA could be in jeopardy following his arrest as a result of his actions in a bar in East Lansing, Michigan last week.

Green was reportedly involved in a scuffle with Michigan State Spartans senior cornerback Jermaine Edmondson at a restaurant called Conrad's Grill, leading to his arrest for “simple assault”. His blood alcohol level after his arrest was reported as .10 and he was required to stay in the jail until he was completely sober.

While off court distractions are never a good thing for a player, the Warriors‘ defensive star doesn't believe the issue will linger, telling reporters in Aspen, Colorado, “My legal team is handling it. It will be resolved really quickly. As a public figure, I just can't put myself in certain situations. It's something that I'll learn from and just move on.”

Perhaps most eagerly awaiting the future ruling is USA basketball. Green was given the honor of being selected to play for his country in the Olympics. Should the case drag on, the USA basketball leadership might reconsider bringing Green and his baggage to Brazil. While the USA team is significantly more talented than the other competing countries, the United States have to be cautious not to beat themselves: locker room issues and negative chemistry could derail their gold medal campaign.

It was also announced that Richard “Dick” Ball would be the judge assigned for Green's case. While the judge's name may be easy to joke about, Green's situation is not. While no player has ever been kicked off of the USA basketball team, Green's off the court actions could force the administration's hand.
