Despite losing their season opener in overtime against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, the Dallas Mavericks still have a lot of positive takeaways from the game.

The team received a lot of production from their point guards: starter Deron Williams turned back the clock and scored 25 points, while backup J.J. Barea came off the bench to chip in 22 points of his own. Their prized acquisition of the summer, Harrison Barnes, played a solid game as well and showed that he can fit in the Mavericks' system.

In addition, during the final minute of the first quarter, second-year swingman Justin Anderson showed his athleticism and insane hops when he ran to the basket and made a vicious put-back slam that left even the Indiana faithful in awe.

Although the Mavericks didn't start their season on a complete high note, the good news for them is it's still just the first game of the season and they have a lot of time to correct their mistakes.

They have a chance to bounce back from the loss when they host the Houston Rockets on Friday night.
